Waste Reduction

We can help you identify, eliminate or minimise the wastes to help the bottom line. We find the most effective way of doing so is to use the original seven mudas (TIM WOOD).

Through practical projects that our team have overcome throughout the years, we are confident that we could assist your Organisation by establishing waste minimising and cost-saving projects.

Kaizen TIMWOOD

Understanding the Seven Wastes (TIM WOOD)

The TIM WOOD framework identifies seven categories of waste that erode operational efficiency and profitability in any organisation. By systematically targeting each category, our consultants help your team unlock measurable improvements in productivity, quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Transport — unnecessary movement of products, materials or information between processes, locations or systems.
  • Inventory — excess raw materials, work in progress or finished goods that tie up capital and obscure problems.
  • Motion — wasted human movement caused by poor workplace layout, ergonomics or tool placement.
  • Waiting — idle time when people, equipment or information are not progressing the value stream.
  • Overproduction — making more than the customer needs, or producing earlier than required.
  • Overprocessing — performing more work than the customer values, often through redundant approvals, rework or unnecessary features.
  • Defects — errors that require rework, scrap or warranty claims, damaging both cost and reputation.

Our Waste Reduction Approach

We start with a Gemba walk and value-stream review of your operation to map current state and quantify each waste category. From there we facilitate Kaizen events with your front-line teams to design and implement targeted countermeasures — typically delivering double-digit percentage improvements in throughput, lead time and inventory turns within the first 90 days.

Whether you are an SME taking your first steps in lean or an established manufacturer pursuing operational excellence, our practical, hands-on consulting style ensures the gains stick long after we are gone.
